Canstruction Competition Underway

NORTH JACKSON — An annual event that helps feed the hungry in West Tennessee is underway in a local shopping center. 17 teams are competing this year in the 9th annual Canstruction Competition. The event is a design-build competition with a unique way to help feed the hungry. Competing teams showcase their talents by designing giant sculptures made entirely out of canned foods in the Old Hickory Mall. The competition will benefit the Regional Interfaith Association. “You get a good feeling knowing that once you create something really unique out of cans, who would’ve ever thought you could build all these sculptures out of cans?” Cassandra Guller said, creative services at JEA. The structures will be on display in the Old Hickory Mall through October 31.
