Crockett County Sheriff’s Department Update on Unusual Crash
Gadsden, TN – April 12, 2025 – This morning, our dedicated teams carried out a comprehensive investigation into a serious crash that occurred in the early hours. Evidence from the scene revealed that the vehicle left the roadway at a high speed, struck a culvert, went airborne, flipped several times, collided with another culvert and a tree, and eventually landed upright in a ditch. The debris field was approximately 180 yards long.
Upon arrival, emergency crews found no patient at the scene. A thorough search of the vehicle and the surrounding area was immediately conducted, including the deployment of our department’s drone for an initial aerial search. Despite these efforts, we still could not locate anyone.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol then joined us with a helicopter for a second aerial search, expanding the search radius to over half a mile. Officers were dispatched to the registered owner’s address, where it was reported that the owner denied being the driver and suggested that the vehicle might have been stolen.
At day break, the day shift deputies relieved the night shift and continued the search in both residential and wooded areas.
This incident is still under investigation, and we will keep our community updated as more information becomes available.
Thank you for your support as we work to keep our community safe.
