Community Reacts to Sheriff Scandal

JACKSON, Tenn.– People in Madison County react to the scandal surrounding Madison County Sheriff David Woolfork. “You know there’s always three sides to a story,” Ashley Davis said, a Chester County resident. “You know his side, her side, and the truth.” Citizens sounded off about the affair involving Woolfork and Deputy Sharon Sangster on Thursday morning. “Well, I feel really bad about the whole situation,” Dr. Bruce Maley said, a Jackson resident. “I feel sorry for him and I feel especially sorry for her if what went on actually went on.” Sangster told the court Wednesday their relationship was violent at times. Not everyone believes her story. “To me if that been going on as long as she say it have, why you wait so long to you know do what you doing? To bring it all out?” Margaret Harvey said, a Madison County resident. Sheriff Woolfork plans to run for reelection next year. “Yeah, I’d support him in another election,” Harvey said. “I won’t vote for him,” Heather Martin said, a Jackson resident. “I would really hold off the judgement til it all comes out,” Maley said. If Wednesday‘s protection order against Woolfork stands, the sheriff will be required to turn in his gun. So far no charges have been filed against Woolfork. The Jackson Police Departments says their investigation is ongoing.
