New data supports use of NSAIDS for lower back pain
JACKSON, Tenn. — New data supporting use of of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or ‘NSAIDS’ in low back pain.
A new publication in the British Medical Journal reviewed current clinical data and found NSAIDS had high quality data supporting their use for pain relief in acute low back pain.
NSAIDS , like Aleve and Bayer Aspirin, have been used in the treatment of low back pain since their introduction. Low back pain can impact quality of life.
Health experts say your back supports you so you should support it back by choosing a pain reliever that works.
“Have these conversations with their health care providers, about their back pain, about the different treatment options that are advocations out there,” said Dr. Natalia Serrano, senior associate director for Global Medical Affairs.
NSAIDS are a class of medications that reduce pain and inflammation. Common over-the-counter NSAIDS include aspirin, ibuprofen and naproxen sodium.
