Local NAN chapter holds conference in Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Chapter of the National Action Network addressed what it sees as systemic inequities at a news conference earlier Thursday.
Founded in November of last year, NAN’s local chapter’s goal is to serve black and marginalized communities in Madison, Haywood and Hardeman counties. Among the items addressed at the conference were the Pathways to Resilience Project and their upcoming march on Wall Street, where several chapters will join together.
The nonprofit also plans to hold workshops and encourages the community to participate.
“What’s not okay is when people are not treated with decency, not treated with respect, and not having the equal opportunities to empower themselves to live their full potential. And so, we want to make sure that we do our job, not just to talk about it, but to bring actionable steps,” said Sabrina Parker, president for the Jackson NAN chapter.
NAN urges local organizations and community members to support their efforts in creating equity and opportunity for all.
