Scattered Thunderstorms and Freezing Rain Possible Tonight

Weather Update – 10:00 p.m. – Tuesday

Scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to produce heavy rainfall in some areas but temperatures are now starting to drop to or below the freezing mark in northwest Tennessee near Union City and Ridgely where a Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect at midnight tonight.

TONIGHT
Scattered showers will continue overnight becoming heavy at times with occasional thunderstorms. All told, a large portion of West Tennessee could get between 1 and 2″ of rain. Lake, Obion, Dyer, and Lauderdale counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory after midnight with a potential for up to 0.10″ of freezing rain to accumulate on tree branches and powerlines. If you’re driving through northwest Tennessee, watch for slick spots on Wednesday morning especially on bridges and elevated roads, though most main roads will remain passable.

It’ll stay cold all day long on Wednesday with temperatures in the 30s all day long and wind chills in the upper 20s and lower 30s at the warmest point of the day under mostly cloudy skies. Gusty winds from the north will make it feel like temperatures are only in the upper 20s and lower 30s at the warmest point of the day!

We’ll continue to see temperatures drop overnight to the 20s by Thursday morning, with sunny skies during the last two days of the workweek before rain returns Friday night.
