WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

So the storm system is still on it’s way but it appears to be slowing down some. That is very good for our Easter Weekend plans across West Tennessee. The storms are not expected to move into our area until 10pm-midnight at the earliest and through Jackson between 3am-5am Monday. There could be some storms lingering around Monday morning around the commute time though. Find out just how hot things are going to get this weekend and the latest on storm chances coming up here.

THIS WEEK:

The next warm up came in on Thursday. Highs reached up to around 80° for most of us. The reason we warmed up was due to the southerly winds with plenty of sunshine as well. We were dry on Thursday but the humidity increased into the evening and will get thicker overnight. The more humid air allowed overnight temperatures to only drop down to the low to mid 60s to kick off our Friday. We saw more clouds on Friday but it was again a warm and humid day. We are expecting most if not all rain showers to stay to the northwest of West Tennessee tonight and into the day on Saturday. Highs on Friday reached the low to mid 80s and Friday night lows will be warm as well falling down into the mid 60s. The winds on Friday stayed out of the south and were again breezy. Breezy weather will last into the weekend.

EASTER WEEKEND:

Southerly winds are expected to hang around all weekend long and that will keep the temperatures and humidity up as well. The warm and humid air, in combination with an approaching storm system, will look to bring some stronger storms and potential severe weather back to the Mid South late this weekend. The most likely time to be impacted with severe storms as of now looks to be late on Easter, after the sun as set and after most of us have gone to bed. The timing and severity of the event look to be between midnight and 7am early Monday morning. Some severe storms will be possible with gusty winds being the main threat as the line moves through. The storms will be stronger along the Mississippi River than the Tennessee River due to the timing on the system.

Highs on Saturday will reach the low 80s and expect mostly cloudy skies. There could be some late showers on Saturday near the Mississippi River, but we are expecting most if not all too miss us Saturday night. Saturday night will be warm with Easter morning lows starting in the low to mid 60s. Expect more clouds than sun on Saturday and partly cloudy skies on Easter. Highs on Easter will reach the low to mid 80s before falling down to the low the mid 60s by Monday morning.

NEXT WEEK:

Warm weather will stick around for most of next week but we will only see highs in the mid 70s on Monday. The showers and storms on Monday will move out by the morning but the clouds could linger around into the afternoon. By Monday evening, we are expecting the skies to clear. The winds on Monday will shift to the west and then to the northwest late in the day as the front moves through. Monday night lows will fall to the mid 50s and Tuesday highs will make it up to around 80°. We are expecting mostly sunny skies on Tuesday with highs back into the mid 80s on Wednesday. The next chance for rain is coming Wednesday night and some pop up showers and potential storms will try to show up during the back half of the work week as well. As of now, the severe weather threat looks low as these appear to be more of a heat and humidity driven pop up storms instead of being forced by a cold front.
