Jackson Parks and Rec celebrates Earth Day at Cypress Grove Nature Park
JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson Parks and Recreation celebrated Earth Day by getting their hands dirty.
Cypress Grove Nature Park in west Jackson hosted an event to celebrate Earth Day.
Anyone could come and volunteer as they planted bulbs and pruned existing plants. Also, Keep Jackson Beautiful donated gloves, knee pads and small shovels.
“We just wanted to jump start the garden but it will definitely be something we’ll do over time you know to make sure theirs not weeds growing in it and plants some flowers in it sporadically. Right now, we’re just digging everything up to get it started,” said Whitney Billingsley, community engagement director for Jackson Parks and Rec.
They plan to finish the garden by their 40th anniversary which is coming up this October.
