Storm Chances Through Friday, Mostly Dry Weekend, Severe Threat Next Week?
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Another round of storms have popped today with most of them so far being east of Jackson. Storm chances will continue this evening and some will linger overnight. Storm chances are even higher on Friday but we are expecting a mostly dry weekend as of now. Severe weather is not expected with these storms but brief heavy rain and lightning is occurring within some of these storms. There is a better chance for stronger storms and potential severe weather next week and we will have the latest coming up here.

THIS WEEK:

Shower and pop up storms continued on Thursday but we again did not see any severe storms. That being said, any pop ups that go up this evening or tonight could produce some lightning and some brief heavy rain. The storms will be of the pop up variety so knowing exactly when and where they are going to pop up will be difficult to forecast. Chances for rain on Thursday night sit at 40%, but the majority of the showers on Thursday were in the afternoon and evening hours. Thursday highs reached the low 80s and Thursday night lows will be warm and drop to the mid 60s. We will saw more clouds than sun on Thursday and the winds came out of the south most of the day.

The best chance for showers and storms this week looks to be on Friday. Chances are slim that we get put under a level 1 (marginal risk) for severe storms but it cannot be ruled out, we are not expecting significant severe weather or tornadoes at this time. Highs on Friday will reach the upper 70s and we are expecting mostly cloudy skies. Friday will be humid as well and overnight lows will fall down to the mid 60s to kick off our weekend. The winds on Friday will come out of the southwest. Rain chances on Friday are currently 70%.

THE WEEKEND:
There will be a slight chance for some storm and shower this weekend; with Saturday looking more likely that Sunday as of now to be impacted by them. Rain chances on Saturday sit at 20% and chances on Sunday are at 10% as of now. Like late in the week, they will appear to be more of the pop up variety than severe weather driven if we see anything at all. Some thunder and lightning and brief heavy rain would be the worst case scenario but it doesn’t look like that type of weather that would require you to cancel your outdoor weekend plans; but be sure to monitor the radar and forecast if you are going to be outside doing events this weekend. Highs on Saturday will reach up to around 80° and Sunday highs could reach the mid 70s. Saturday night lows will fall down to around 60° and Sunday night lows will drop down to the mid 50s. We have a chance for some low 90s next week by the way but will probably fall just short!
