Kindergarten Student Caught With Gun
A kindergartener is in state custody after he took a gun to a Memphis elementary school.
Shelby County Schools spokesman Mike Tebbe told The Commercial Appeal the 6-year-old apparently brought the gun from home and kept it in his backpack all day.
Other students saw it on the bus ride home and alerted the bus driver. The driver confronted the boy, who surrendered the gun.
The boy was taken into custody and placed with the Department of Human Services.
He faces a mandatory 180-day suspension from school.
