Off-duty Madison County deputy charged with DUI following weekend crash
JACKSON, Tenn. — An off-duty deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office was taken into custody following a motor vehicle collision in Jackson on Saturday.
According to a press release from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 9:49 p.m., Rickey Brooks was involved in a crash at the intersection of Division Avenue and Campbell Street in Jackson.
As a result of an investigation that took place at the scene, Brooks was taken into custody and has been charged with Driving Under the Influence (TCA § 55-10-401) and Violation of the Implied Consent Law (TCA § 55-10-406).

We spoke to 26th District Attorney General Jody Pickens who says, because Brooks is a member of the 26th Judicial District Task Force, a “special prosecutor” will be appointed to this case.
“I was made aware of the incident by Sheriff Wiser on Saturday night. Because of his affiliation with the task force, I am appointing a special prosecutor for the case.”
