Star Jones helps bring awareness to women’s heart health
JACKSON, Tenn. — 94% of women do not prioritize heart health as a wellness motivator, despite it being the #1 killer of women for more than a century.

Heart disease has been the leading cause of death among women in the U.S. for more than a century, and impacts more than 60 million women today.
For women of color, these rates are even higher, with 59% of Black women and 43% of Hispanic women experiencing some kind of heart disease.
A new national survey of women 30-50 years old shows that when it comes to women’s health, heart health is not covered in the doctor’s office or dining room.
Star Jones, award winning television personality & women’s heart health advocate, helps kick off heart health conversations this Mother’s Day, and shares how one conversation can be lifesaving.
“We have to put our own health on the front burner,” Jones said. “These conversations may be hard, but if you go to alettertomymother.com, we’ve put some resources together so that you can ask the right questions.”
During Women’s Health Month and Mother’s Day, the Letter To My Mother campaign is encouraging women to make heart health a priority, starting with a conversation with their mother or a woman in their life about family history, risk factors, and the signs and symptoms of heart disease.
By encouraging these important discussions, we can empower women and help bridge the gap in both treatment and awareness.
