New business discussed during Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting
HENDERSON, Tenn. — Local leaders held a meeting in Henderson to make some final decisions that may impact residents.
City aldermen and the mayor voted on the approval of 3% cost of living adjustment for employees and the standard pay scales for all city departments.
Henderson’s Mayor Terry Bell says he appreciates his workers and all that they do. City leaders also voted on a tax rate ordinance approval. This tax rate will remain the same and should not cost residents more.
An individual may see an increase or a decrease based on the assessment. There was also a increase in water by 5% and sewer by 3%.
Mayor Bell shares more.
“We’re required to depreciate any improvements even though it may be money that came from the federal government we have to depreciate it. Even though it came from the federal it’s kind of hard to explain but you have to expense that out immediately — in a short period of time,” said Mayor Bell.
Thursday night, city leaders also voted on the approval of a used fire truck for the fire department.
