14 Madison County inmates graduate with OSHA certification

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with external educational agencies, continues its commitment to providing meaningful educational and workforce development opportunities to the inmates of the Madison County Jail.

A graduation ceremony was held Tuesday recognizing 14 dedicated individuals who have successfully completed a vocational training program and earned their OSHA certification.

For these graduates, this certification represents a pathway to employability in industries such as construction, manufacturing, and logistics fields where safety knowledge is not only valued but often required.

“We’re also doing training on these tablets, which are provided to about 90 plus counties across Tennessee. What we’re doing is offering 25 courses online while inmates are in jail to give them an opportunity to achieve another type of workforce certificate,” said Dr. Andre Temple with UT Extensions.

An OSHA certification is a nationally recognized credential that equips individuals with essential knowledge of workplace safety, health standards and hazard prevention.
