Lexington mayor, board of alderman convene for special called meeting
LEXINGTON, Tenn. — The Lexington mayor and the board of alderman held a special called meeting.
One of the big items discussed was to approve a cash management policy, which was approved by the board.
Also on the agenda was discussion of proposed city budgets for the 2025-26 fiscal year. Mayor Jeff Griggs says he wants to have a balanced budget without having to raise taxes on constituents.
Alderman Ellis asked department heads to provide an alternate version of their initial budgets, which did not include cost of living adjustments or any kind of pay increases.
The budget is in it’s initial discussion stages right now, with more meetings planned to come up with a final budget.
