Air Evac Lifeteam kicks off EMS Week early with special celebration

JACKSON, Tenn. — National EMS Week starts on Sunday, but one special event is celebrating a little early.

An EMS Week Kick-Off Taco Lunch was hosted Friday by the Air Evac Lifeteam. The event was held for EMS workers in West Tennessee and included food, games, prizes, movies and more.

EMS Week is a time to celebrate the profession of emergency medical services and the providers who live it out, proving care in the community for those who are sick and injured.

“I’ve been here for 20 years and this community has always supported EMS in the area. We are very fortunate in West Tennessee to have that support. The community knows what we’re out there doing and they support us in it and they see the results with us out there taking care of their loved ones,” said Jonathan Wood, senior program director for Air Evac.

Some ideas on how to care for local EMS providers include catering lunch for them, compiling gift bags, or simply stopping by to say thank you in person to those who serve.
