Mostly Dry Ahead Saturday And Sunday, An Local Isolated Storm Is Still Possible
Saturday Morning Update
Numerous storms moved through on Friday night with sporadic reports of damage, mainly in the northern counties and northwest Tennessee. Several reports of large hail along with around 5 different areas reporting trees down in and around the Paris and Puryear areas of Henry county over to parts of southeast Weakley county.
A look at the storms that moved through west Tennessee last night, along with several areas of hail being reported:
Most of the storms developed along a cold front that has now pushed south of us through today. A second cold front will work through the area early Saturday and stall over the area for the weekend. As the result, a few pop up storms can be expected from this afternoon through Sunday. Most areas will not see rain but the few isolated storms that manage to develop could become strong. A much larger risk will come for Tuesday of next week as a much more powerful and complex system moves into the region.
A look below at the current severe storms, now located well to our south over parts of Alabama and Mississippi:
For Today, Tonight, And Sunday, Expect a slight chance of a pop up storm, otherwise, a mostly dry Weekend. Chances will go to around 10% this afternoon to around 30% tonight with around 40% for Sunday. Highs today will be around 88 with light west southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Tonight, partly cloudy with a 30% chance of a shower or storm, lows around 66. Well be back to partly sunny skies tomorrow with highs in the mid 80s.
Only a few storms will develop over the Weekend, but the few storms that do develop could become strong or briefly severe. We will stay in the marginal or 1 out of level 5 risk through the Weekend.
The greatest threat would be some brief large hail, gusty winds, and lightning with an isolated pop up storm but the overall risk is on the low end. Storms will get much more concentrated again into Monday with Tuesday bringing a much higher level of severe weather. We’ll want to be weather aware, especially on Tuesday and listen for more updates ahead as we are already in the higher risk in the day 4 outlook from the Storms Prediction Center.
Storms will linger into Wednesday before moving out by Thursday. Thursday and Friday look very nice and much cooler with highs around 70 both days and lows could dip into the upper 40s. As we get closer to Tuesday’s event, be sure in check in with the StormTracker 7 Weather Team for the latest updates.
