Weekend preview: Fun for the family happening across West Tennessee
JACKSON, Tenn. — What better way to enjoy some great weather than outside attending local events across West Tennessee this weekend!
Saturday and Sunday are jam-packed days filled with activities for families and friends. Here’s a look at some weekend events.
Beekeepers field day
One upcoming event will have you buzzing with excitement.
The Jackson Area Beekeepers Field Day will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pine Hill Park.
This is an opportunity to win a prize and to do an inspection on their club bees. Honey will be available for purchase.
Barbecue benefit
From 11 a.m. on Saturday until 2 p.m., the Bells Fire Department, police department, utilities department and the City of Bells will have a barbeque benefit for Assistant Police Chief Donnie King of the Bells Police Department who received a heart transplant earlier this year.
“He’s continuing to recover and get stronger, he’s in therapy having his follow up appointments in Nashville. Of course with a heart transplant you’re off work and there’s a lot of expenses that come with that. So, the city of Bells wanted to do something special to honor his service here in this community,” said Stephen Sutton, Crockett County public information officer.
This event will help benefit king and his family.
“We’re not charging for food, but we are accepting donations. All of the donations are gonna go towards Donnie and his family. I’m not going to say a goal amount but whatever we get will be a help to him,” said Bells Police Chief Kevin Legion.
King has served 35 years, helping his community.
