Active Weather Returns To West Tennessee

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

A weak cold front will pass through West Tennessee Thursday afternoon, bringing with it a chance for showers and storms. Some of these storms could be strong to severe for high winds. As such, The SPC has placed all of West Tennessee under a Marginal (1/5) risk for severe weather for Thursday. We will have active weather through Saturday. We have all the details right here.

Thursday PM:

Storms will fire in Arkansas around Mid-day and will track to the North-northeast. The primary threat with Thursday’s storms will be strong winds. Near-severe hail and heavy rain will be secondary threats. Given the nature of the setup, tornadoes are not expected, but not impossible either.

Friday:

Friday’s storm threat appears to be a bit more substantial. West Tennessee has been placed under a Slight (2/5) Risk for severe weather featuring an all-hazards setup. There is a 2% chance for tornadoes, 15% chance of winds at or above severe limits and a 5% chance of severe hail of Quarter size or larger. If any supercells go up in West Tennessee, that will be where the chance for tornadoes and hail will be highest, but Futurecast quickly resolves into a a squall line by about 3:00 PM. Storms will be moving almost straight East.

Saturday:

West Tennessee is under a Slight (2/5) Risk for a second straight day. Probabilistic forecasts say there is a 15% chance of severe criteria being met by a storm for Saturday Afternoon/Evening. It’s still too far out for Futurecast to resolve as of 4:30 Thursday Morning, but expect updates with future forecasts coming up later today as we get a first glimpse at what to expect for this weekend’s round of storms.

Tue Morn

Sunday Onward:

Calmer weather returns to the Mid-South on Sunday. Humidity is expected to remain high and temperatures will remain in the mid-80s. We will see another chance for rain on Monday, but coverage is expected to be spotty. Right now, Monday’s chance for rain across the region appears to be about 30%.

Stay weather aware through the weekend and enjoy the nicer weather when it returns.
