Flock system helps capture Memphis murder suspect in Jackson

Jackson Police Department Assists in Apprehension of Memphis Murder Suspect with Help of  Flock Camera System 

Jackson, TN – On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the Jackson Police Department played a critical role in the swift apprehension of a murder suspect wanted out of Memphis, Tennessee, thanks to the collaborative efforts of JPD officers and technology provided by the Flock Camera System. 

Earlier that day, Memphis Police Department officers discovered a woman deceased in her home in  the Colonial Acres area of Memphis. The victim’s blue 2020 Chevrolet Camaro was also reported  missing from the scene. 

Utilizing the Flock Camera System, investigators were able to track the vehicle to Jackson, TN. JPD  officers quickly responded to the location and successfully took the suspect, identified as 23-year-old  Kerrien Dates, into custody without incident. 

Dates was placed on an investigative hold at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex. As of  the morning of June 5, he has been formally charged by the Memphis Police Department with First  Degree Murder and Theft of Property. 

“This case demonstrates how the strategic use of technology and strong inter-agency collaboration  can lead to swift justice,” said Chief of Police Thom Corley. “Our officers acted quickly and  professionally to ensure the safety of our community while assisting in the resolution of a violent  crime.”
