Severe Storms Ahead This Afternoon
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

Rain chances got going for most of us this week on Thursday. A cold front will approach the Mid South and will stall out for a few days. Depending on where the front stalls will determine who is most likely to see heavy rain and who is just going to be dodging pop up showers and storms.
Rain showers and storm chances were a little higher on Friday. Rain chances were 70% and the skies were partly to mostly cloudy. There was some afternoon and evening showers and storms on Friday that were a bit intense. There was a few severe storms with gusty winds being the main threat. The winds came out of the southwest making for a warm and humid day. Highs reached the mid to upper 80s on Friday and Friday night lows will fall down again into the low 70s. The heat index hit 100° in Jackson for the first time in 2025.
THIS WEEKEND:
Unfortunately rain showers and storms are expected to pop up both days this weekend. Chances are at least 80% on Saturday but are only around 10% on Sunday. That stalled out front will continue to impact our weather leading to pop up showers and storms. There could be some stronger storms or possible severe weather this weekend, especially on Saturday morning and afternoon so you need to watch things closely if you have outdoor events planned. Not everyone is going to get this weekend but chances are much higher that you will, than that you won’t. Sunday looks to be our best day of the two with a mostly dry day!
Highs will reach the low to mid 80s this weekend and both days appear to be partly cloudy. There will be more clouds though on Saturday than Sunday. The winds this weekend will come out of the west or southwest all weekend long. Morning lows will hang around 70°. Sunday is looking like the better day for outdoor activities. We are currently under a level 2/5 (slight risk) for severe storms on Saturday. There could be a couple rounds so please stay weather aware and keep a close eye on the radar when you are out if things start to get dark.
