Teacher Arrested for Shoplifting Retires
A Jackson elementary school teacher has retired, just three days after being arrested for shoplifting. Annie Marie Bond, 56, a teacher at Bemis Elementary was arrested Saturday after a security officer at Sears in the Old Hickory Mall in Jackson told police she stuffed more than $120 worth of lingerie into her purse and tried to leave. In December of last year, Bond was arrested on similar charges at Marshall’s. She pleaded guilty and served four days in jail. The 19-year teaching veteran currently has a bond of $2,500. The district said she retired on Tuesday. Bond is set to return to court May 12.
