Taking strides to make Alzheimer’s a memory
JACKSON, Tenn.—The weather didn’t stop one group from walking to make Alzheimer’s a memory!
The West TN Regional Alzheimer’s Walk took place Saturday at Fellowship Bible Church located at 141 Pleasant Plains Rd in Jackson.
The annual event draws participants from all across West Tennessee to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s Tennessee.
The event kicked off at 9 in the morning with registration and the opening of the kids zone.
Runners and walkers were encouraged to raise funds for the cause and maybe even win some prizes themselves.
At the event, there was live music from artists Caleb and Leann, a cake walk, and more. Then at 11:30 participants hit the pavement taking strides against Alzheimer’s.
“It wasn’t our plan to be inside this morning but we are thankful for Fellowship Bible Church allowing us to use their facility this morning. We have over 200 people that are registered to come out today, so it’s going to be a great day and of course, the best thing is 100 percent of all funds stays local to help our families that are dealing with this disease,” said Amanda Leitch, West TN Regional Director for Alzheimer’s Tennessee.
The annual Alzheimer’s Tennessee Walk is a huge fundraiser for the organization and this year’s goal is to raise $75,000 by June 23.
