Psychedelics show positive impact in PTSD treatment, experts say
JACKSON, Tenn. — It’s currently PTSD Awareness Month, and there is a new form of treatment that has been helping those who are affected.
More than 13 million Americans are currently living with PTSD.
Many of them are living with this without access to treatment that works.
Traditional therapies and medications often fall short for people with complex trauma.
Psychedelics are now being used to help assist those who are suffering.
We were able to speak with Matthew Buckley, founder of the No Fallen Heroes Foundation, about how well this treatment method works.
“There are so many different healing modalities,” Buckley said. “This is one of them. Radical trauma might need radical healing, and these medicines can definitely be considered that. It is not recreational, and this ain’t fun, but on the other side of a potentially tragic experience, this is healing.”
When combined with therapy, psychedelics help people revisit and release trauma instead of avoiding it.
