Monogram Refrigeration opens on-site primary care clinic

SELMER, Tenn. — Monogram Refrigeration, a wholly owned subsidiary of GE Appliances, is opening an onsite primary care clinic for employees and their families — free of charge.

It’s the first clinic of its kind in McNairy County, and part of a broader transformation in how manufacturers are responding to both workforce challenges and rural healthcare gaps.

As the manufacturing sector evolves, leaders like Monogram are reimagining how to support a modern workforce.

This clinic marks their third at a U.S. manufacturing facility. Other locations have already seen measurable success such as reduced ER visits, higher employee engagement, and increased use of preventive and mental health services.

“This will be a smaller clinic, as we get started, we’ll be open three days a week,” said Michele Clark, Global Well-Being Leader. “We have a nurse practitioner, and we have one MA [medical assistant]. Of course, we have on-site mental health services available 40 hours a week. And then we have a medical director that will oversee the clinic from afar.”

From 2015 to 2019, McNairy County was designated as economically distressed by the Appalachian Regional Commission. In 2020, it exited that classification—thanks in part to Monogram’s creation of over 300 jobs and nearly $50 million in investment.
