Applications open now for JPD’s Citizens’ Police Academy
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Police Department is offering a police academy with a course this fall.
The Citizens’ Police Academy allows residents to learn the process of police operations.
The mission of the academy is to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and the community through engagement, education, transparency, and collaboration.
The academy will meet every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. during the program.
Most classes will be conducted at the Jackson Police Department at 234 Institute Street.
To qualify, you cannot have any felony convictions, A or B misdemeanor convictions, drug convictions, domestic assault convictions or an active warrant.
“See first hand what our officers do on a day to day basis, and I think that’s going to help with a better understanding how law enforcement works in the city,” said Stephanie Graham, Jackson Police Public Information Officer. “You get that feel of knowing or what to expect when citizens encounter an officer.”
