Local Elks Lodge celebrates the American Flag with Flag Day ceremony

JACKSON, Tenn.–Saturday is Flag Day and one local organization is getting an early start on this patriotic day.

The Elks Lodge #192 in Jackson honored the Star Spangled Banner with a Flag Day ceremony Friday evening at the group’s location in north Jackson.
Leaders with the Elks Lodge tell us celebrating the American flag is a major part of their organization.

” The flag is very important to us. It’s one of our virtues, the flag is part of our backbone. We’re proud that we’re U.S. citizens, we’re proud that we all believe in God and we’re happy to be here in Jackson, Tennessee celebrating,” said Kenneth Tuten, Esteemed Leading Knight with the Elks Lodge #192.

It was on June 14, 17-77.. the Second Continental Congress adopted the stars and stripes for the American flag.
