Rain Moves Out, Flooding Will Linger

Thursday Morning Update

Radar estimates had upwards of close to 6 inches of rain over around a 5 hour period this morning for parts of Tipton and Lauderdale Counties in west Tennessee and that has led to some flooding. Parts of Highway 51 were reported under water along with parts of highway 70 out in the Brownsville area this morning. Numerous smaller tree limbs were noted along some of the secondary roads through the area. Sporadic reports of trees down over parts of Lauderdale and Tipton as well. Remember, flooding can continue well after the rain moves out due to runoff so this will be likely ongoing through the day in the lower areas.

Rainfall June 19

As of around 8 am this morning, most of the rain had moved out of the area. With the exception of a slight chance of an isolated storm over southwest Tennessee tomorrow, Most areas will go through the next few days with no rain! The heat will be rising into the first day of Summer which arrives on Friday.

Rain Gone

The afternoon temperatures today will feel more like the lower to middle 90s as we go to the upper 80s. Tomorrow will be warmer with highs in the lower 90s. Heat index readings will feel more like the mid to upper 90s.

2 Day Forecast

Patch fog will develop over night and a little cooler with lows around 68. Turning hot and mostly dry for the first day of Summer with highs around 91-93 tomorrow.

We will want to find a shade tree or some good air conditioning in the days ahead! Summer will come in full force and highs will move towards the mid 90s by early next week. You’ll want to take plenty of breaks out in the heat over the next few days and don’t forget about what’s in the back seat as far as kids and pets go. Remember to think about taking frequent breaks and drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. Stay with the StormTeam to see just how hot it may get ahead.
