Summer camp in Hardin County combines fun with education
SAVANNAH, Tenn. — The 3rd annual Hardin County Summer Learning Camp has almost come to an end.
Students who have struggled this past year or may not have scored high enough on the state standardized test took advantage of the summer small group learning program to catch up with their peers.
This program involves reading and math instruction, fun activities and small group interventions to help develop those skills.
“So, the whole goal was, can we provide something for those students in a smaller setting–like in a 1 to 10 ratio type atmosphere–to where they can get a smaller group with some different teachers and really pinpoint the academic standards that they may have been struggling with to try to catch them up before the next school year started,” said Greg Wyatt, K-12 academic supervisor.
The unique part about this summer learning camp is that students meet new friends and teachers across the county that they may not have otherwise known.
