Cooler Over The Weekend, Up Goes The Rain Chances

Saturday Morning Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

Some isolated pulse type storms popped up Friday afternoon in West Tennessee. Some developed near the Tennessee River and some have popped up near the Mississippi River. These storms produced brief heavy rain and pockets of lightning. Severe weather was unlikely with these storms but they did produce lightning and you need to head indoors if one of these storms approaches your area again this weekend because more showers and weak storms are expected both days this weekend though unfortunately and into early next week. Catch the latest details and full weekend forecast coming up here.

THIS WEEKEND:

Friday was the last day with a heat advisory here in West Tennessee for a while as temperatures will be a bit cooler into the upcoming weekend. The humidity will remain high but the heat index will stay below 100* for all of us this weekend.

Front Sunday Monday

Showers and pulse storms also returned on Friday and more are expected as we head into the weekend and into the first part of next week. Rain chances will be 60% for both days this weekend across the region.

Highs on Saturday will still reach the low 90s and the heat index will still be near 100° in the afternoon and evening hours. There will be some early afternoon showers and storms that could linger until the sun goes down that might try to cool things down a bit as well. The winds will be light and come out of the southwest still all weekend long. There will be in general mostly cloudy skies this weekend with a few periods of sunshine, especially on Saturday. Highs on Sunday will reach the mid to upper 80s with a heat index still in the low to mid 90s at times due to it still remaining quite humid. Saturday and Sunday night lows should fall down into the low 70s so keep the AC units pumping, but the elect bills will be lower this weekend than they were all week long.

NEXT WEEK:

More showers and storms are expected on Monday. Chances for rain and storms on Monday are at 70% as of now with Monday being more likely to be impacted by showers and storms that both days this weekend. Many of us will see measurable rain for all three days. Some rain showers will continue on Tuesday but chances are only around 40% as of now. As the day goes on Tuesday, the showers and storms will move out and most of us will miss out on the rain during the middle and end of next week.

The winds will come out of the southwest on Monday, but turn to the northwest on Tuesday briefly as a weak front will move through. The front will keep the humidity lower as we get going into the middle of the week but will be slowly creeping back in on Friday as the winds will return back to the southwest. The cooler and less humid air is why most of us will be dry from Wednesday through Friday. Highs all week will be in the upper 80s or low 90s with morning lows in the upper 60s and low 70s all week long. As the week goes on, the clouds will begin to break up with mostly sunny skies expected during the back half of next week.
