Youtuber takes on Hope Café & BBQ’s Bottomless Pit Challenge
JACKSON, Tenn.—A popular Youtuber and competitive eater takes on one of Jackson’s biggest food challenges.
A Guy Named Eli Lessig, a national food challenge traveler and Youtuber takes on the Bottomless Pit Challenge at Hope Café & BBQ.
The contest kicked off at 1 in the afternoon at the restaurant at 701 South Royal Street.
The challenge consists of over 10 pounds of food to be consumed in one hour. The meal includes a Triple Defibrillator Burger, made of brisket, pulled pork, bacon, onion rings, and mac & cheese between a Texas toast grilled cheese.
Along with that, Eli is also expected to consume an order of Bossman Totchos, two quart sides with beans and coleslaw, and finish it off with a milkshake. If he completes the challenge, his meal is free and he gets winners t-shirt.
Eli says, he always tries to give back when taking on challenges, often paying for the meals even if he finishes.
So when the opportunity to take on the challenge at Hope Café & BBQ came about, it was a win-win opportunity.
“No one’s even attempted it, so it’s one of those things where you don’t know what you’re getting into until it comes time; but reviews are amazing so the food sounds good. I’ve seen some people eating and the food looks great. It’s a big challenge so we’re going to weigh it up. It’s estimating somewhere north of 10 pounds is what it looks like, so we’re a little nervous today,” said Eli Lessig, Youtuber and Bottomless Pit Challenger.
Eli was unable to complete the challenge, finishing the sandwich and almost all the sides but stopped at 55 minutes.
But there are no real losers! Any proceeds from the day’s event will benefit Hope Recovery Center and Women of Hope.
If you think you are up for the challenge, you can visit Hope Café & BBQ to try your luck.
