Milder Heat Back In The Forecast

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

Temperatures are cooler coming up, but we can still expect some low triple-digit Heat Index values this week. Chances for showers and storms will hang around for the first half of the week, giving way to a fantastic forecast for the Fourth of July holiday and the weekend.

Sun Heat

Monday:

Monday will be the hottest day of the week. Temperatures will be in the low 90s, but it will feel as hot as 103 in some areas. Scattered showers and storms will move into the area during the late afternoon hours. There is a marginal risk that some of these storms could be severe north of I-40. Primary threats for tomorrow are strong winds and heavy rainfall that could lead to localized flash flooding.

Sunsvr

Tuesday:

Showers and storms will be scattered with little coverage and likely very little intensity. Temperatures will be much cooler, as highs are expected to stay below 90. Humidity from Monday’s rainfall may drive the Heat Index up to triple-digits in some places, but widespread 100+ is not expected.

Wednesday Onward:

Back to a persistence forecast for the second half of the week and into the weekend. Heat and Humidity will be present, but it will not be anywhere near as intense as last week’s heat wave. You’ll still need to take some precautions when working outdoors, but Heat Index values should stay at or below 103. Showers and storms are not expected, but it is Summer, so keep the umbrella on hand just in case a shower or storm pops up quickly. Area firework displays should be able to go on without a hitch.
