Local theater puts Disney classic on stage
JACKSON Tenn. — Cast members of The Ned’s production of ‘Hunchback of Notre Dame’ are performing a Disney animated musical.
It’s a classic book that was written by Victor Hugo and they turned it into a big Broadway musical. Carolyn Miner was the choreographer for the show and featured a live orchestra.
The performance features the Topsy-Turvy day from the Feast of Fools that happens on the streets of Paris.
They cast multiple people in different roles to add variety for new audience members so it is like seeing the show for the first time.
“What really excites us about it is that it requires a lot of wonderful choral singing and we had a lot of our folks learn Latin in order to sing some of the songs in the show. Since we do have a Jackson Choral Society a lot of those members got really excited about what we were doing and we have a least one of those members singing with us,” said Kristin Klonowski, The Ned’s performing arts manager.
They have a new production coming up titled Hadestown Teen directed by Will Burk opening up for auditions in a week at the Ned.
