Kid firework safety tips
LEXINGTON Tenn. — If you plan on shooting your own fireworks, experts want to remind us of some common safety tips.
Some of those reminders include not handling fireworks while under the influence of any substances, and making sure children don’t use fireworks. You should also keep a bucket of water or a water hose nearby, and never try to relight a firework.
Experts also say you should not light fireworks inside containers such as bottles or cups.
“Some people like to hold them in their hand and shoot them. Sparklers are dangerous. They can burn through to an excess of 1,100 degrees. If we have for and five kids out here running around the yard playing with them and slinging there’s a very good chance they could get hurt,” said Keith Wallace, Fire Inspector for the City Lexington.
