World Series Helps Local Store

JACKSON, Tenn.– Stores rake in big bucks because of the World Series. Fans want to support their team and they need apparel to do it. “It‘s been a very positive thing,” Scott Wilkinson said, owner of Wilk‘s Dugout in North Jackson. “We can pretty much dress anybody from head to toe.” Wilk‘s Dugout sells sports apparel. “Jerseys run around $100,” Wilkinson said. “Jackets can run $135 up.” Cardinal fans and Red Sox fans want to support their team. Wilkinson says the World Series is good for business. “Well, they like Molina,” he said. “He’s the catcher.” Wilkinson says this is Cardinal country. Wilkinson says he sells ten times more Cardinals gear than Red Sox apparel. “I carry everything in the Cardinals,” Wilkinson said. “I mean that’s you know that’s like a pizza place not having cheese you gotta have it.” Wilkinson orders merchandise in advance. “We‘ve already had to you know preorder shirts, so if the Cardinals win do we order this many and if the Red Sox win we will have championship shirts, not as many as if it would have been the Cardinals, but we‘ll have some,” he said. Game six of the World Series takes place Wednesday night in Boston.
