Nonprofit aims to provide reliable pet care for US military members

JACKSON, Tenn. — With Independence Day approaching, many of us think about our service members and remember the sacrifices they made for us to maintain our freedom. But, freedom comes with sacrifices for many currently serving.

One often overlooked need for those serving our country is care for their pets during deployments, training, or emergencies.

Serving our country often means sacrificing time with loved ones and that includes their pets.

Dogs on Deployment makes sure these military members have a safe, loving place for their pet to be cared for during deployments, training, and emergencies and it is all free of charge to service members.

“The whole purpose is we don’t want these animals surrendered to a shelter so we push those out in different formats, and we do have a very large network ready to be activated when needed,” said Kylee O’Ney with Dogs on Deployment.

If you are interested in boarding a hero’s pet during their time of service or if you are a military member needing a safe and loving home for your pet during an upcoming time of military service or during an emergency, learn more at dogsondeployment.org.

If you can’t board a pet, but still want to help, Dogs on Deployment is a 501(c) non-profit and every dollar donated goes to help keep a military member and their pet together.
