Lexington gears up for full day of fun at Festival of the Lakes

LEXINGTON, Tenn. — For decades, the Festival of the Lakes has provided a fun and safe way for people to enjoy the 4th of July.

Hosted by the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce, the City of Lexington, and the Henderson County Animal Clinic, this year looks like it will be another great one.

“It kicks off at 5 o’clock and is at Beech Lake in Lexington,” said Kristina Anderson, Executive Director of the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce. “At 5 o’clock is our kickoff, then we will have bands, vendors, then of course at 9 o’clock we have our fireworks show.”

With the 4th falling on a Friday this year, along with the wonderful weather that is predicted, Anderson says they expect a big crowd.

“We hope that everybody comes out. We have the best weather that we’ve had, or prediction of the best weather for the past couple of years. We have the Aerosmith tribute band, so we expect a larger crowd this year,” Anderson said.

For years, many people make sure to plan ahead for this day — a family-friendly event full of celebration, food, and fun.

“I think it has just become a family tradition,” said Anderson. “You come out and get to see the live music, you’re outdoors, it is the 4th of July, and then of course ending the night with a huge fireworks show. I’ve heard the best seat in the house is right out there on the lake on a boat.”

Cardboard boat races begin at 2 p.m., the boat parade is at 4 p.m., and live music begins at 5:15 p.m.

The events are free to attend, and all located at Beech Lake. The address is 200 Bob Henderson Drive in Lexington.
