THIS WEEK:

As the cold front sitting to the north got a little closer and tracked into to West Tennessee, shower and storms showed up again for our Wednesday. Chances for rain and storms will go down quick after the sun goes down. There was not enough instability for severe storms but we did see periods of heavy rain though and plenty of lightning with a few of the storms that popped up.  Highs on Wednesday make it up to the mid to upper 80s and was a little cooler due to the mostly cloudy skies. The winds stayed out of the southwest and were light. Expect a mostly cloudy day in general across the region. Wednesday night lows will drop into the low 70s.

Thursday the front may drift across West Tennessee. It will not pass through, so cooler weather and a change in the humidity and wind direction seems unlikely. If it does move through, it will be pushed back to the east and north of us later during the day.  Some light showers are expected and maybe a few storms, we will call it a 40% chance right now to be impacted Thursday afternoon and evening from the front. Highs will reach the upper 80s and the winds will come out of the west most of the day. Thursday night lows will fall down to around 70°.

On the back side of the cold front there will be enough instability with the heat to spark up maybe a couple of storms or rain showers on Friday. Chances are 30% as of now to see a brief heavy rain shower or pop up storm. Expect partly cloudy skies and the winds will come out of the west or southwest later in the day. Highs will reach around 90° and lows will fall into the low 70s to kick off your weekend.

THIS WEEKEND:

As of now we are going to include shower and storm chances for both days this weekend. There is a better chance we are dry on Saturday than Sunday but a lot could change in the weekend forecast as it gets closer. Highs will reach the low 90s with the heat index being near 100% in the afternoon and evening so a shower or two might not be a bad thing. If we get storms this weekend severe weather seems unlikely at this time. Expect partly cloudy skies and the winds will look to come out of the west-southwest all weekend long. Chances for rain on Saturday right now are 20% and 40% on Sunday. If you have weekend plans just keep an eye on the forecast this week and the radar when you will get out and about. Any showers and storms that do develop will produce heavy rain and lightning and possibly some winds gusting up to 40mph.
