5 juveniles arrested after stolen vehicle found in Missouri

Newbern Police Department Make Arrests in Connection with Stolen Vehicle

Newbern, TN – On July 8, 2025, the Newbern Police Department received a report of a stolen vehicle from a local resident. The victim reported that a 2025 Buick Envista had been taken from her residence during the early morning hours. Additionally, personal property valued at approximately $1,800 was reported stolen from within the vehicle.

Through a coordinated investigation with the Caruthersville, Missouri Police Department, investigators with the Newbern Police Department Criminal Investigations Division were able to identify multiple suspects connected to the theft. The stolen vehicle was successfully located in Missouri.

As a result of the joint investigation, arrest warrants were issued for five juveniles, ranging in age from 12 to 17 years old, on charges of Theft Over $10,000 and Criminal Conspiracy. The juveniles are currently in the custody of the Pemiscot County, Missouri Juvenile Office on charges related to this incident. Arrangements are being made for their extradition to Tennessee to face charges. Additional suspects have been identified, and further charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

Chief Greg Barr issued the following statement:

“This case highlights the importance of strong interagency cooperation. I would like to personally thank the Caruthersville Police Department and their officers for their swift and professional assistance during this investigation. The safety of our community remains our top priority, and we will continue to pursue justice on behalf of the victim and the citizens of Newbern.”

The charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law.
