McNairy afterschool program cut after funding paused

LETTER FROM MCNAIRY COUNTY SCHOOLS (7/10/25):

Due to a hold on federal funding, Project Enrich/Afterschool will not operate in August. For more details, see Mr. Martin’s Letter Below.

McNairy County Parents:

After discussions with the TN Department of Education Federal Programs Division this week, we have been informed that funding for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) is currently being paused. Because of this pause we are providing the following announcement so that parents will be able to plan and prepare for any changes that will be necessary to their schedules as a result of after school programs no longer being available.

Important Notice:
Due to all federal funding for the 21s Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) currently being on hold, McNairy County Schools’ Project ENRICH after-school program will not operate in August. At this time, we are uncertain whether funding will be available for the program at any point during the school year. Our hope is that it will be available soon, and we can share better news.

We understand that this creates a hardship for many families, and we are sorry for the inconvenience. Please know that we are actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates as soon as they are passed on to us.

Thank you for your understanding,
Greg Martin
Director, McNairy County Schools
