HHS alumni build new addition to Carroll County park

HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — A local park received some upgrades for young children.

Carroll County Inclusion Park in Huntingdon has added a storybook trail around a part of the Kelley Sports Complex.

The trail is a quarter-mile long and along the path lies posts, each with a page from a children’s book from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The book will be changed every four months.

Currently on the trail is Jimmie Allen’s “My Mouth is a Trumpet.” Some of the students shared their thoughts with us.

“Truly a delight it was. It was good to know that the community can still come together and can still achieve such huge goals,” said Dylan Nunley, future Blue Raider.

“See this is like my final act before I’m gone so it’s one of the best ways to remember my time in Huntingdon–by building this,” said Gabriel Salma, future Golden Eagle.

Not all of the students who were a part of this project were able to be present Friday.

HHS Jobs of America’s Graduates instructor, Ginger Taylor, says there were around 45 students involved in the project.

One of the students shared fond memories of putting the pieces together. Several community members showed up in support, many bringing their children to test out the new trail.

Each page had a prompt for those walking the trail to head to the next post.Shortly after the children began walking, they could be seen buzzing like a bee to the next post.

To visit the park and walk the trail, head to 430 Mustang Road in Huntingdon.
