Project 19:14 event preps local students for school

HUNTINGDON, Tenn.—A group of local churches partner with one organization to prepare students for school.

A Back to School Bash was held from 5 to 7 Sunday evening at Sesquicentennial Park located at 450 Fairgrounds Road in Huntingdon.

The event was hosted by Project 19:14, local churches, Baptist Memorial Hospital and others.

There was free food available for guests to enjoy, including hot dogs, chips, and even snow cones from Rollin’ Snow.

Those who attended could take part in games and pick up a free backpack filled with school supplies.

“I think our target has primarily been Huntingdon students, but I know we get people from around the community and we’re more than happy to help them,” said Payten Butler, co-founder of 19:14. “We’re very blessed to have this park here especially with the inclusion park now. It’s just a great spot because kids love it and it’s easy for parents to come. So it’s the perfect spot for this type of event. ”

The organization gathered close to 400 backpacks to hand out at the event.
