According to arrest records, 31-year-old Ashonti Shardai Kidd was booked into the Madison County Jail just after 7 p.m. on Friday, August 1.
Kidd was wanted for aggravated animal cruelty after a Jackson Animal Control Officer found an abandoned dog in a hot garage “starving and near death” on July 23.
Local authorities, including Jackson Police and Crime Stoppers, alerted the public to the incident and asked for information on Kidd’s whereabouts.
After her name and photo was released in connection to the case, Kidd made a social media post denying responsibility for the incident, stating that it is not her dog and that she was not aware the dog was in the garage.
At the time of this report, Kidd remains in custody at the Madison County Jail. Information on possible court appearances was not immediately available.
