PRESS RELEASE FROM THE MILL WORKSPACE:
The Mill Workspace Hosted “Managing Stress and Overwhelm in Business” After-Hours Meetup
Dyersburg, TN — August 4, 2025 — On Thursday evening, July 31, The Mill Workspace hosted “Managing Stress and Overwhelming Business,” an after-hours event created to offer tools, connections, and real conversation for professionals navigating the pressures of work life.
The event was organized and hosted by Public Relations Intern Kadince Ferguson, who is currently a senior at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Ferguson hosted this event as part of her summer internship at The Mill Workspace, an opportunity secured through Launch TN. Ferguson led the event from concept to execution, inspired by her own experience and family background in small business.
“This event was inspired by my mom,” Ferguson shared “She’s a small business owner, and I’ve seen the stress and weight that can come with that responsibility. I wanted to create an event to support people like her.”
Guests were welcomed by a beautifully catered grazing table by Toot N’ Tell IT of Dyer, TN. Attendees also received a curated goody bag full of resources, coupons, and local items, made possible through generous donations from community members and small businesses.
The event featured a five-person panel representing a range of industries, including non-profit, food and beverage, retail, service, and human resources. Panelists shared strategies for managing stress, maintaining work-life balance, and avoiding burnout.
Panelists for the event included Timm Johnson, owner of Green Frog Coffee & Grill; Ben Richardson, Human Resource Director at Rough Country; Stefania Wheeler, Northwest Director of Donor Development at United Way of West Tennessee; Stacey Cook, owner of Off the Square boutique; Chris Donaldson, CEO of Tencom Services, Inc. and The Mill Workspace.
As the evening wrapped up, Ferguson reflected on her summer interning at The Mill Workspace: “What I didn’t expect to learn this summer were the things that no one really meant to teach. Things like the power of the community and how much small action can meant in a small town.”
