THIS WEEK:
Rain chances returned on Tuesday as a cold front will be getting a little closer before drifting through into the day on Wednesday. Most of us missed out on Tuesday but a few of the storms west of the Mississippi River may try to linger into the evening hours and move into some of our counties. A couple of gusty wind storms will be possible but the severe weather threat appears to be quite low. Some brief heavy rain and lightning will still be possible for some of us, but do not expect much tonight. We saw partly cloudy skies and a light breeze out of the south all day long. Highs still reached the low to mid 90s wit ha heat index around 100° in the afternoon. Overnight lows again falling down to the low 70s to kick off our Wednesday.

The best chance for rain this week is coming in on Wednesday. Not everyone is going to see rain as chances are currently at 40%. Some storms will mix in with the rain showers but lightning and some increased winds again appear to be the main threat. The showers chances will be greatest in the afternoon and evening hours. Highs will reach the low 90s and the winds will vary in direction as a front will move through the area. Expect partly cloudy skies and overnight lows will drop down to around 70°.

Another round of showers and storms are expected to develop again on Thursday for areas across West Tennessee. As of now, chances are 30% as the second of two fronts will drift just to the north of the Mid South allowing enough instability for some pop up to develop again. The winds will come out of the west and highs will make it up to around 90°. Skies will be partly cloudy again and overnight lows will fall down to the low 70s. Most of us will pick up some showers between Tuesday and Thursday but there will be a few people who will miss out due to the nature of the pop up type storms.
Friday things will begin to dry out but there still could be a few showers on Friday depending on how fast the cold front clears out during the day. Expect mostly sunny skies and the winds to return to the southwest in the afternoon. Highs will start to climb up a bit and reach the low to maybe mid 90s in the afternoon. Chances for rain on Friday is only 20% but chances will be even lower for the upcoming weekend. Friday night lows will fall down to the low to mid 70s to kick off our weekend.

THIS WEEKEND:
Another hot and mostly dry weekend appears to be on tap for us in West Tennessee. Highs will reach the mid 90s and even some upper 90s will be possible on Sunday for some of us. Rain chances are low this weekend with Sunday maybe bringing a little better chance for rain that Saturday. Expect a mostly sunny weekend and the winds will be light and come out of the southwest for the most part. The heat index could be over 100° this weekend as the southwest winds will be increasing the humidity a bit as the weekend goes on. A heat advisory looks possible at this time. We still have over 5 weeks of summer to go so expect the hot weather to linger into next week!
