Latham Volunteer Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire on Vaughn Road

LATHAM, TN – At approximately 9:45 PM on Friday, August 15th, the Latham Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for mutual aid with South Fulton Fire Department in response to a structure fire on Vaughn Road.

Latham Fire Chief Sean Fulcher arrived on scene within six minutes of the dispatch and discovered a single-story family dwelling with heavy fire at the rear of the home and a full roof collapse.

Due to the home’s location bordering the coverage areas of Latham, South Fulton, and Martin Fire Departments, additional manpower and water supply were requested.

Latham Fire responded with 4 trucks and 12 personnel.

South Fulton Fire responded with 2 trucks, 1 support vehicle, and personnel.

Martin Fire responded with 1 truck and 4 personnel.

Also on scene were Weakley County EMS, the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department, and WCMES.

Chief Fulcher expressed his gratitude that the residents were able to evacuate without injury, stating:

“I am very thankful the homeowners were able to get out safely. We ask that everyone keep this family in their thoughts and prayers as they recover from this devastating loss.”

A photograph taken by the family shortly after they evacuated shows the extent of the fire’s intensity.
