Laura Simmons Webb
Laura Simmons Webb, lovingly known as “Momma” to her children and “Memommy” to her grandchildren, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee. She was 87 years old.
Born on May 9, 1938, in Newbern, Tennessee, Laura was the daughter of devoted parents and grandparents who preceded her in death. She graduated from Newbern High School and went on to earn her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification through Parkview Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee—a decision that would shape a lifelong career of care and compassion.
Laura dedicated over three decades to nursing, working in various clinics throughout Dyersburg and Jackson. Her gentle spirit and steady hands brought comfort to countless patients over the years. After retiring from clinical nursing, she continued to nurture others by serving as a homeschool teacher for several families for six years. Her love of learning and teaching left a lasting impact on the children she guided. Later in life, she worked at Morris Nursery Barn until the COVID-19 pandemic led to her retirement.
A woman of deep faith, Laura was an active member of Believer’s Fellowship. Each Sunday, she found joy in singing praise and worship songs with her church family. She also participated in Bible studies with close friends, drawing strength and community from her spiritual life.
Laura was married to the love of her life, Billy Webb, for 63 years until his passing in 2019. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. She is survived by their four children: Stacye Richardson (Gary), Stephanie Jones (Todd), Eddie Webb (LeeAnn), and David Webb (Jennifer). Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Family was the heart of Laura’s world. Whether attending school events or simply gathering around the table for a meal or conversation, she was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Her presence brought warmth and encouragement to every room she entered.
May Laura’s memory bring comfort to all who knew her and serve as a reminder of a life lived with grace, devotion, and love.
