Browns Creek MB Church celebrates Homecoming
BROWNSVILLE, Tenn.—In Haywood County, one church congregation is celebrating 190 years of services.
Browns Creek Missionary Baptist Church celebrated its Homecoming Sunday.
The anniversary event began at 10am at the church located at 673 Browns Creek Road in Brownsville.
The service included praise music, messages from various church members and a special guest pastor from nearby Woodland Baptist Church.
There was also a special reading of the church proclamation.
According to church members, Browns Creek MB was founded in 1835 by Samuel Brown, and given to the Black slaves after the Civil War in 1865.
“We’re certainly glad a lot of people showed up today and we had a great worship service. We just look forward to continuing to do more work in this community. At this point in our world and everything going on, we need to hear a word from the lord,” said Winston Perkins, Senior Pastor at Browns Creek MB Church.
The church continues its longstanding service to the lord and the surrounding community.
