Fair season returns to West Tennessee: Dates, prices and details
JACKSON, Tenn. — It’s one of West Tennessee’s most popular times of the year — with cotton candy, funnel cakes , and lots and lots of rides, from now until October 25, West Tennessee counties will have a fair for people of all ages to enjoy.
The Decatur County Fair is one opportunity for residents to enjoy. With livestock shows, pageants, exhibits, and tons of entertainment, including the carnival, this is available from now until Saturday, August 23.
Beginning on Friday, August 16, Obion County will open their fairgrounds beginning at 6 p.m., with events happening all evening. Each day from August 19-23, there will be a livestock show at different times. Each night, the admission costs just $5 for entry. Armbands for the rides are $25.
For the first time ever, the Jackson City Fair will be held at Rockabillys Stadium, beginning on Wednesday, August 20 at 4 that afternoon. Kids under four are free every day. Adults ages 13-64 are $12 for entry. Seniors must have their ID for an $8 entry. And those ages 5 to 12 are also $8 dollars for entry. Wednesday and Friday, wristbands are $25. Saturday and Sunday is $30, with Thursday being the discount day with unlimited rides at 2 for $30.
Finishing off the last week in August, the Gibson County Fair will have its opening day on Saturday, August 23 at 9 a.m., with their Jr. horse show. The carnival will open Monday, August 25 at 6:30 that evening with their carnival buddy night. General admission is free for all ages. Each night will feature a different deal from tickets to bracelet nights. The fair is free daily until 2 p.m., and kids under nine are free each day. Tickets and arm bands are available for purchase.
Bringing in September with the fair fun, Dyer County will have their fair September 1-6. Each night the entry price changes. On Monday, general admission is $10 and carnival tickets can be bought. Tuesday and Wednesday, tickets are $20, which includes carnival rides. Thursday, senior citizens receive free entry from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. General admission is $10 with carnival bracelets at $25. Friday from 9-4, kids are free entry with adults $5 entry. Carnival bracelets are $20. Friday night, beginning at 5 p.m. until close, general admission is $10 with tickets available for purchase. On the final day, general admission $10. Carnival tickets are $25 from 4-7 p.m., and tickets are available to purchase from 7 p.m. until closing.
The Henderson County Fair will return from September 8-13. Admission is free, with ride tickets and armbands available to purchase.
From September 15-20, Hardin County will have their Agricultural Fair. $15 admission includes rides, livestock shows, and more entertainment, with more information to come.
To end the fair season, the West TN State Fair will be hosted in Henderson on October 16-25. Children three and under are free for admission. Each night is $5 admission, Friday and Saturday nights is $10 beginning at 8 that evening. From Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday, armbands are $20. Friday and Saturday, armbands are $25.
