‘Bowls for the Hungry’ event raises thousands for local nonprofit

JACKSON, Tenn. — One nonprofit is given a generous check to further their goal of helping individuals move from crisis to stability.

Earlier Monday, Jackson Parks and Recreation representatives presented a more than $8,000 check to Area Relief Ministries for their emergency services program. The funds were raised at JPR’s annual ‘Bowls for the Hungry’ charity event last month.

The faith-based nonprofit serves West Tennesseans through emergency assistance and housing programs.

“Area Relief Ministries is grateful to the City of Jackson and the partnership that we have together collaboration to make this a successful program of fundraiser for the nonprofits. We say to the City of Jackson, on behalf of Area Relief Ministries: ‘Thank you very much for the partnership,'” said Fred McKinnie, executive director for ARM.

This was JRP’s third year hosting ‘Bowls for the Hungry.’
